The major of ideological and political education is a first-class major in Shaanxi Province, which trains undergraduate majors with high-level theoretical propaganda cadres, political and ideological workers and high-level social workers for party and government organs, enterprises and public institutions and social organizations.

In 2001, Chang'an University resumed 4-year undergraduate enrollment in ideological and political education. This major is the basic major of Marxist theoretical disciplines, with strong political and ideological content, strong ability in ideological and political work, and wide range of social adaptation.
